EMILY'S PIANO ROOM
Hello, I'm glad you're here!
I teach piano lessons to students of all ages and abilities in my cozy home piano room located in Ventura, CA.
Piano has been a part of my life since I was a young child. I started lessons at 5 years old with Greg Manning at Heck Music in Ventura. In high school I learned from Julia Green of Ojai and I studied under the guidance of Robert Watson while attending California State University, Fullerton where I was accepted into their Piano Pedagogy Program. While growing up, I participated in recitals, Piano Guild, and Certificate of Merit. My teaching experience started while in high school and I feel so lucky to have had so many amazing students over the years. Continuing my musical education through online classes and teachers has been a wonderful experience for myself and my students.
My teaching style is gentle and patient while keeping my expectations high and tailored for each student.
I try to understand my students individual learning styles and work with their strengths. It's important to me to create a welcoming atmosphere where every student feels safe to make mistakes as they learn and grow. I play and teach from a classical background, focusing on note reading, theory, and technique. I love playing music from all the Classical periods and composers, but Chopin is my favorite.
I share my piano room with my husband and kids who play drum set, violin, clarinet and guitar. It's a loud house with some kind of music constantly going on and we love it that way!
