Hello Piano Families!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break. We're starting the new year strong and it's so good to finally get back into lessons. I have been so blessed to have the best students! They are smart, talented, and very capable. I have big goals for each of them and I'm excited to see their progress during this last half of the school year.
With the start of the new year, I thought this would be a good time to focus on good practice habits with all the students. I have been gluing a practice calendar and stickers into their spiral notebooks this week, and talking to each student about making their piano practice a priority. In order to make some positive change with their practice habits, I will need some help from parents at home. Making time to practice is a challenge for everyone and many students (especially those in elementary and middle school) still need help with this skill. If you haven't already, please sit with your child and schedule a daily practice time that will work for them. The goal for most students should be 30 minutes of practice every day. I write notes every lesson in their spiral notebook of what they should be working on at home, please encourage them to refer to their notebook as they practice.
It has been many years since I've held an in-person piano recital and it is time to bring it back! I don't have a specific date/location yet but I am looking at the 3rd or 4th weekend of May. I hope everyone will participate. I will share more info as that develops.
I appreciate all the effort you put in to get your child to and from their lessons, and in helping them make good practice habits at home. Learning a musical instrument is a big undertaking and I'm thankful for your support to these amazing kids!
Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to chat about your child's progress.

thank you!
Emily
